Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), which is governed by Ministry of Power, Government of India launched the Standards & Labeling Programme for equipment and appliances in 2006 with the objective of providing a tool for consumers to make an informed choice on energy and cost savings on marketed household and other appliances.
‘Stars’ assigned from 1 to 5 in increasing order of efficiency, estimated annual energy consumption and brand details are displayed on the label for consumer benefit. BEE has notified the products under mandatory and voluntary scheme under this program.
The manufacturer(s) have to complete the testing and documentation required by BEE India in order to certify the product with BEE Star Rating.
For product model registration, test reports from ISO/IEC17025 accredited lab (NABL or equivalent) having scope of the testing are required. In house test lab reports are also accepted provided the lab is accredited by NABL.
