UL organized a seminar in Mumbai on July 21st, 2014 to shed more light on the importance and challenges of adopting tree-retardant, crosslinked polyethylene (TR-XLPE) material in the Indian Wire and Cable industry.

The forum provided a platform to highlight issues that affect reliability, performance, safety and profitability in the wire and cable industry. It saw the convergence of more than 70 industry experts, including various stakeholders, industry representatives and senior officials who brought to the fore key challenges in the adoption of TR XLPE in India and their recommendations and expectations from the Governing authorities.

Mr. R.A.Venkitachalam, Vice President, UL’s Public Safety Mission, opened the session by talking about the need for safety in all production aspects, ranging from materials procurement to manufacturing and delivery to end users. The forum also had Mr. L. F. Lai, Vice President and General Manager, UL’s Wire and Cable division who elucidated UL‘s work pertaining to this industry for over 100 year now.
