Balancing Innovation, Quality and Compliance Enabling “Make in India”
Jan. 9-10, 2015, Ahmedabad Management Association, Ahmedabad, India.
The medical devices and equipment industry, currently valued at US$ 2.5 billion, contributes 6% of India’s healthcare earnings, which is estimated to be around US$ 40 billion ( http://bit.ly/1858nTm ). The medical devices industry is growing at a faster annual rate of 15% than the 10-12% growth seen in the healthcare sector in its entirety. A rise in the number of hospitals and the increased requirement for healthcare facilities creates a need for advanced devices and equipment that can lead to optimal health protection.
In view of this emerging market and to further boost the medical devices sector in India, The Indian Medical Devices Industry (IDMI) organized the 12th National Conference and Technology Exhibition on the Indian Medical Devices & Plastic Disposables/Implants Industry. This conference and technology exhibition, being organized since 2001, was supported by leading industry associations in medical devices, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and plastics sectors. The mission was to create a platform for the Indian medical device industry and its technology/products/services providers to interact and collaborate towards facilitation of economic growth.
UL in India participated in the event as a delegate sponsor to share its expertise in regulatory services and quality assessments for manufacturers of active and non-active medical devices.
